Healthy, Delicious
I was one of the only kids in kindergarten who liked brussel sprouts. Nine years later, I still love vegetables and am now a vegetarian. I have, at times eaten whatever I wanted, too much sweets, too much mac and cheese, ya know, the typical American diet. But I began to become unhealthy, and I didn't feel good. Now I eat lighter and I feel better.
When you don't eat what's being served, you have to be creative with your food choices . And as a result I have come to love a greater variety of foods: beans, nuts, vegetables, fruits and grains. I used to hate quinoa but if you put enough olive oil, lemon juice, salt, pepper and fresh herbs on it, it's fabulous.
A popular food trend right now are bowls: buddha bowls, veggie bowls, mediterranean, Mexican, Thai, raw, hippie, noodle, root vegetable etc. etc. And they are delicious! One of my favorite restaurants that serves them is called "Sweet Green."
Every bowl has a unique flavor and dressing. And every drink as well. They are plant based and have very little sweetener so you feel like you are eating and drinking a super healthy meal. Sweet Greens also has a music festival each year called the Sweetlife Festival which celebrates community, music and food. I like that they are a company that promotes sustainability and a healthy lifestyle. In 2016 the concert was in Columbia, Maryland with the headliners The 1975 and Halsey. And in 2015 Sweet Green collaborated with Kendrick Lamar pulling from some of his well known lyrics they created the salad name, "Beets don't kale my vibe." He headlined at Sweetlife that year as well. What a cool company!
