I have been a vegetarian for some time. And since my food options are fewer than most people I have had to be creative with my choices. The fashionable food right now are bowls of everything called Bowls of Goodness, to Buddha Bowls, Grain Bowls. Protein Bowls, Bowls of Plenty and more. And I have fallen in love with the variety of choices of grains, pared with root vegetables, with an Asian twist of noodles and cilantro to a Middle Eastern Bowl with hummus and falafel. The one ingredient that ads a special pizzaz is a fresh herb such as basil or parsley.
A restaurant which has become one of my favorites is "Sweet Green's," in Berkeley, CA. Every bowl has a unique flavor and dressing. And every drink as well. They are plant based and have very little sweetener so you feel like you are eating and drinking a super healthy meal. Sweet Greens also has a music festival each year called the Sweetlife Festival which celebrates community, music and food. I like that they are a company that promotes sustainability and a healthy lifestyle. In 2016 the concert was in Columbia, Maryland with the headliners The 1975 and Halsey. And in 2015 Sweet Green collaborated with Kendrick Lamar pulling from some of his well known lyrics they created the salad name, "Beets don't kale my vibe." He headlined at Sweetlife that year as well. What a cool company!
